01 Working console

Two panes. One source of truth.

Keep the source on one side and the rendered document on the other. Switch to a full-width view when the work needs more room.

The editor and preview can scroll independently, or stay synchronized while you inspect a long document. Click through the source, copy a rendered code block, then export the final document without leaving the app.

  • Live rendered preview
  • Optional synchronized scrolling
  • Markdown and PDF workflows
  • Drag-and-drop file loading
  • Unsaved-change protection
  • Packaged PDF manual

Dense tables and formulas remain visible as source and formatted output in the same working console.

Systems check Six green lights

Small utility. Complete flight deck.

The app stays focused on Markdown, but the routine details are handled. Open the file, keep your place, recover from a bad shutdown, and hand off a PDF.

Version 1.8 keeps the editing surface roomy while the release systems handle restore, export, and file-state details.
SYS 01

Three working views

Use the editor at full width, inspect the rendered document, or keep both panes in split mode. Choose any view as the opening default.

SYS 02

Tabs and session restore

Keep several Markdown files open at once. Tabs, unsaved text, view state, and scroll positions return after relaunch.

SYS 03

PDF export

Turn the rendered Markdown document into a PDF without routing the file through a browser service or cloud account.

SYS 04

Document outline

Open a collapsible heading outline for long documents. Selecting a heading moves both the editor and preview to that section.

SYS 05

Image assets

Paste or drop an image, add alt text, and save it into a configurable assets folder with a relative Markdown path.

SYS 06

Clear saves and updates

Get an immediate confirmation after every save, open the Markdown guide, or check the first-party SputnikFX release feed.

Build manifest Four systems online

Every system on the console.

This is a local Windows product, not a browser tab tied to a cloud account. The renderer handles Markdown. A context-isolated Electron bridge owns the desktop work, and the release pipeline carries the complete application to Windows.

Stack 01

Desktop runtime

A local Windows application with a narrow bridge between the document interface and the operating system.

  • Electron 42.0.1 Windows application shell and Chromium rendering runtime
  • Node.js main process File access, native dialogs, application state, and PDF handoff
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript The custom dark interface and document workspace
  • Context-isolated preload A limited desktop API with Node integration disabled in the renderer
Stack 02

Editor and preview

Source and rendered output stay in one working console, with independent views and optional synchronized movement.

  • EasyMDE 2.21.0 Editor, split, and full-width preview modes
  • CodeMirror 5.65.21 Source editing, selection, search navigation, and scroll state
  • Marked 4.3.0 Markdown parsing for the rendered document
  • Font Awesome 7.2.0 Interface controls and document-status icons
Stack 03

Document systems

The work stays on the machine. Workspace sessions and image assets are local. PDF exports run through application services.

  • Electron printToPDF Local PDF output with the rendered document styling intact
  • Workspace sessions Open tabs, unsaved work, pane state, and cursor positions restored after relaunch
  • Recent-file state Up to eight Markdown paths retained in a local preferences file
  • Native file workflow Open, save, Save As, image assets, drag-and-drop loading, and clipboard access
Stack 04

Release pipeline

One build path assembles the application, installer, manual, and the legal files required for release.

  • electron-builder 26.8.1 Packages the production Windows application
  • NSIS installer Per-machine setup with install-location choice and Windows shortcuts
  • Generated PDF manual The versioned user manual is rebuilt before packaging
  • Azure Artifact Signing Publisher verification and trusted timestamping for the application and installer
New Version 1.8.2

Menus clear of tabs. Preview stays current.

Version 1.8.2 keeps the New and Recent menus accessible when many document tabs are open, and refreshes Preview whenever the active file changes.

Opening a file or selecting a tab now renders that document immediately in Preview. Its saved preview scroll position is restored when you return.

02 Flight plan

Version 2.0 is on the pad.

The next major release moves farther into PDF work. Editing and signatures are planned for the v2 mission.

Those systems are not in version 1.8.2. This release is the lean Markdown console: write, inspect, recover, and export. It remains free until v2 is ready to launch.

Document signatures Planned
